Hattiesburg Public Schools Project: Secondary Art

The use of a secondary photo in packages can certainly add more visual appeal to a page. In this case, there is main photo of the teacher and students, and a secondary photo of a pencil cup to break up the columns of text. Also note the use of the schools "colors" (blue and gold) in the banners and top and bottom borders of the photos. This page was designed using Adobe InDesign CC 2015.

Hattiesburg Public Schools Project: Graphics

This could have been presented as a boring list with bulleted items, but with a little creativity and the gradient tool in Adobe InDesign, the alternating bands of gradient school colors added some visual appeal to the chart. InDesign has some great tools that can be used to spice up a presentation.

Hattiesburg Public Schools Project: Gradient Feather

Sometimes adding a special effect to a photo can make a difference in the visual appeal of a page. In this example, I used the gradient feather tool in Adobe InDesign to feather the top edge of this photograph and allow it to fade out behind the text. The result is a nice transition from the story text into the photo.

McComb School District Project: Cover Design

This approach to the cover design included a montage of photos in a grid concept to represent the McComb School District. It was important to use a variety of images that include students, teachers, athletics and some of facilities. Two of the vertical panels are shown in lighter transparency for visual interest. The school colors are used in the banners and in the grid borders. This design was created entirely in Adobe InDesign.
